Charlie led a happy life until he was almost nine, helping his older brother Bill help their mother. Of course in Charlie's case, helping usually meant making things worse and often ended with "stop picking on the twins."

All this changed a couple months before he turned nine and he was taken away. At age eight he was passed up by most couple's looking to adopt a pureblood child, prefering a child who wouldn't remember his old parents, but he was spotted by Richard Friar, a man of an Aristocratic family that was struggling to retain such title. Friar thought that the act of encouraging a Weasley to restore their family honor would elevate his own family name back to it's proper heights.

Richard never told Charlie much about his parents, and instead of focusing on their being "bad people" like he was told to, he instead told Charlie that his parents had committed a much sadder mistake of losing their honor, and attempted to impress upon Charlie the importance that he reclaim the Weasley family honor. To this end, Richard told both Charlie and Wilhelm grand stories of brave wizards fighting cunning muggles, evil warlocks, nasty beasts, and most viscous of all, deadly dragons.

Wilhelm picked up the intended message: Honor guides us in things great and small. Charlie picked up a slightly different message: Being true of heart and strong of will is fine and dandy, but slaying giant monsters is awesome!

A few years later and it was no wonder that the boy who dreamed of slaying dragons on his own with nothing but a sword or lance was sorted into Gryffindor. He did reasonably well in school, excelling in Defensive Magic whenever it focused on dangerous animals, and Herbology whenever they handled dangerous plants. In third year he of course signed up for Care of Magical Creatures.

He also formed a secret club in his first year, called the Forest Expedition League, whose goal was to explore the Forbidden Forest and find out all of it's secrets and monsters. He was forced to disband it twice, but always signed it up again shortly after. No student went more than two years in the club before quiting, and most left in less than one. He was the only one to be a member for all seven years of it's existance, and without him around, the club didn't reform after he left.

He was also a seeker for the Quidditch team and many urged he should go pro, but even after being knocked out by a bludger and breaking both a leg and an arm in the crash, Charlie knew that Quidditch was too tame for him.

Graduating with a healthy number of owls, Charlie had a lot of options ahead of him. But to no surprise, he turned down jobs at the ministry, quidditch, and even St. Mungo's to join a team of problem solvers - i.e. contractors who are hired to deal with unusual (and typically violent) problems that require unique skills. Once he had enough money, Charlie left the team he was on and set up an office called Monster Slayers on Wimsick Alley as his own one man problem solving setup. He changed the name to "Monster Hunters" when he found that there was more business in catching, taming, and retrieving monsters than just in killing them.

He even managed to catch a few monsters of his own, buying a larger place down the street that used to be a lab so he could turn it into a small stable. He has permits for everything, except a couple of the forbidden creatures (the chimera and the dire wolf) which are hidden in the back. He was forced to change his logo (a cariculture of him slaying a dragon) to a slightly less violent one (a cariculture of him riding a dragon) as his newly formed menagerie was attracting younger audiences to visit, which he didn't mind as long as they were respectful to his creatures and didn't get in the way of his business. He's currently looking into renting a lot on Verdict Alley (as well as get licenses to contain and display class B threat creatures) so he can set up a proper menagerie and make a little extra money.

He does a fair amount of work as a consultant for the Ministry, enough that he has a badge he gets to keep. It won't let him in unless he's summoned though. He also has done a bit of work as a liason between goblins and wizards due to his closer nature to magical creatures and races than most wizards. He can speak Gobbledygook, but any goblin who can speak English will prefer talking in English, as his accent is attrocious.

He has successfully slain several dragons over the years, but other than one time where it was approved by the ministry (and was boring as he had about seven other dragon slayers with him) they've all been for sport, which is illegal, so he doesn't make a lot of noise about it. Word has gotten around that he likes fighting dragons, but given his professional experience, there hasn't been any investigations into it.
